Plano East softball won eight games last year. They’ve already surpassed that number less than a month into the 2023 season.

Since the impetus of the Wylie Prep basketball program, the team were gym nomads. They practiced and played their home games wherever they could find a place. Starting in 2022, however, that reality was over. With the construction of Building 22, the school’s brand-new home gym, the traveling across the Metroplex just to play a “home” game was over.

Wylie, Sachse and Plano East were all busy competing in various track and field competitions across the Metroplex this past weekend. Wylie competed at the Hebron Hawk Invitational while Sachse and Plano East competed at the Allen Eagle Relays.

Wylie East’s dreams of going deeper in the playoffs fell short once again after losing to Rockwall on Monday Feb. 13.

When looking at famous siblings who have played together on the same court or field, it’s usually as opponents. Jason and Travis Kelce will be facing off in the Super Bowl this Sunday. Pau and Marc Gasol both excelled in their careers in the NBA, but only shared the court as foes. But down here at Wylie East, two Raiders’ siblings—AJ and Parker Overstreet—are creating magic on the basketball court together, as teammates.

If there’s anything that new Plano East softball coach Lauren Peterson wants to instill in her players this upcoming 2023 season, it’s to rely on one another.

If there’s one word to describe Sachse boys’ soccer over the past half decade, it’s success. The Mustangs have continually found themselves near the top, or at the top, of the district standings. But that’s in the past, and what comes next will all be up to a new coaching staff headed by Benjamin Buentello.

After taking home first place in the Kaufman Tournament, the Wylie East Raiders turned their attention back toward what matters most—district play.
